adding syflex effect on top of existing animation

#1

Hi

I was asked to add some cloth behavior effect (ripples, waves, flapping edges…) on top of the existing animation of a flying carpet. The carpet is now a tablecloth, and so it is not supposed to be as stiff anymore.
Is there anyway to add syflex effect to an existing animation without changing the trajectory and general shape of the carpet, as the blocking has been approved. Any good technique will do!

Thanks for the info.

one way,
Is this tablecloth/carpet a nice poly quad object?

In short you could do this, if the tablecloth/carpet doesn’t move around too fast…

use it as a target for a mimic constraint

duplicate the tablecloth/carpet
create a syCloth mesh from the duplicate
and mimic constraint selected verts of the cloth to the original tablecloth/carpet

Another way, via blend caches.

Again if the tablecloth/carpet a nice poly quad object.

bake the tablecloth/carpet obj out useing the cmd “syCacheWrite shape file”
then track the tablecloth/carpet motion to a locator,
duplicate the tablecloth/carpet
create a syCloth mesh from the duplicate

parent the cloth under the locator,
add forces , constrainst, etc,
follow the docs for Local/Global Space,

solve for something you like

then blend that result with the result of the original tablecloth/carpet obj baked
out with syCacheWrite
