I need to add more detail to a spline and poly to later patch. How does one do an ‘add points’ in modo like LW? I know how to make points or vertices. what I need is to actually add more points to the actual spline.
Adding Points to a spline or Poly
There’s been a few threads on this before. I think the consensus was this…
To add points to a polygon, go to the Mesh Edit tab, click on the Edge Slice tool, and in the tool options below de-select the Split Polygons option. Then go to the viewport and start clicking on the edges of your model, and you’ll see points appear.
I’m not sure how to add points to a spline, though. Maybe someone else can help with that one.
to add point to a spline, select the spline u want to add points to it, then select curve tool, now u can either edit the vertex of this curve, or add new vertex, tp edit points, change the mode in tool properties to edit, so u can drag points now.
to add new vertex, change mode to add, point ur mouse over an existing vertex of the current spline vertices, and then add point after this one.
hope it was clear.
Thanks this worked. they probably need to make that a little more easier because I coulndnt figure it out for the life of me.
Thanks for the reply. I think your what you are talking about is if you use the bezier or make curve, draw curve tool. while still in that mode you can go and edit and maybe add more points. however, what I am refering to is an already existing curve.
The first solution offered worked with an actual polygon but for a curve this does not work. thanks for your help. maybe someone else can add more value to this discussion.
no aonikoyi, what i mean is not while still in the command, i mean what u want, after dropping the tool, spline or bezier, if u want to edit ur curve, by dragging vertex, chanjing tangents or adding points, u have to reselect the spline, if it’s curve, go to curve tool, if it’s a bezier go to bezier tool.
than go to mode, and do whatever u want, edit or add.
enjoy it.
