Adding Clouds to Mental Ray Daylight in 3DSMax

I have been trying to add a cloud texture to my Mental Ray Daylight scene. I have found some tutorials from earlier versions of 3DSMax but nothing for 2012.

From what I have seen there is a way to tie an image into the environmental shader, but don’t yet understand how to achieve that process.

Any suggestions?

Perhaps you can try putting the cloud texture on a transparency map? Are you using Daylight system?

Hmm, yes I am using the Mental Ray Daylight system right now. Would the trans map be applied to the Daylight system or applied to a large sphere similar to HDRI lighting reflection panels?

Yes applied to a large sphere/dome, that’s the method that I’ve used before. Or you could always comp in After Effects… D:
