adding a ready made rig to your model?

Hey guys, this is my first time posting on CG talk…I can assure you it definitely wont be the last…

Im an animator who uses maya and lightwave and I overheard someone at work the other day mention that you can add pre-made rigs to your model? Specifically they mentioned the Andy rig, is this possible? I literally have nearly no idea how to rig so this would be a godsend but I doubt it could be that simple!

Sorry if this sounds like a really dumb question but its worth asking right?:slight_smile:

Unless your model matches the proportions of Andy’s, you’ll need to rig your own.

Google “autorigger for maya”. There are scripts that will guide you through the rigging process. They’ll usually ask for you to set up the guides, which will tell the scripts where to build the rig. There are free ones out there.
