Good evening.
I went for m@'s idea about turning it into a lodge. It turned out really well. Haven´t taken care of the floor yet though. Been wrestling the light wich refuses to do what I want :annoyed: .

Really good idea about the widescreen picture fellah. That will follow tomorrow. I will see what I can do about the light. But I have envisioned day light. So I thought I would have all the lights turned off inside. Glad you like it.

Thanks Fetus23, it is the light setup that creates the nice feel of it. I have no fancy shaders whatsoever. Yes, a picture with the cut-away will follow. Good that you reminded me.

I have only two days left in town so I dont know if I will be able to make a character for this piece. But I hope so, just have to sacrifice sleep for two nights.

WoooOOOhooo! that’s fantastic Mikael! just the kind of thing I was waiting for!
the lodge looks really cosy;I 'd like to do a trip in this.

Keep it up, eagerly waiting for the floor ;and a widescreen, and, of course, an animation!

hey there mikael,
I like the new update, very good!
I think you can do even more with the lighting to create a nice mood though…
mikael’s thought about fellah right now: grr… that fellah… he must be a real bastard… dosen’t he understand anything… I wan’t it this way… grr…

I made a quick mood test in PS… this is the direction I would have taken if I where you(but I’m that kinda fantasy guy, maybe you wan’t the more realistic look, you decide this is just an idea) and maybe add something in the topLeft corner(ex: ropes hanging down) and apply dof(gaussian in PS) to them to get more depth in the image.
might have exaggerated a bit much with the color difference, and I know you wan’t it to look more like daylight… but it’s just another idea

hope you don’t mind me posting my little PSfix here, if you do, tell me and I’ll remove it.

lol. no prob fellah. That is something I have to learn, painting with lights. You are correct about the ropes too. That is usually something I completly forget when doing CG, but think of all the time when doing photography. I liked your suggestion. I will go easy on the glow and soft focus though. But will try it out with more coloured lights.
Well, sometime I will do the final picture. Then I probably will spend hours in p-shop retouching it. I haven´t thought that it would be worth the time doing that yet.

 about the anim m@. Dont get your hopes up to high. I have nothing near any finished character yet. So if, there will just be some camera movement.

#159

camera movement will perfectly do

Well, been working with the lights tonight. I think this will be the final lighting. I only have one more evening in town, so there can be no huge changes.
Thanks CGethan.

#162

aha!, pretty much better lighting, though i like fellah’s colours more, but your’s is nice indeed (i like desaturated colours too!)

#163

nice colours:thumbsup:
It’s strange why the sky in the left window is so dark? is it a massive-rain-grey cloud? if not, the sky should have the same intensity in all direction(if you’re not directly looking at the sun of course, and given the shadows, the right window is not)

Anyway it’s a great work Mikael, it awakes my nordic genes (half finnish!)

#164

Well thats one is very nice i can almost find myself touching that bed

#165

FINITO!
well then. this challenge is over for me. I am of to bed now. Here comes my final pictures. I am almost satisfied with them, even though I had to force them. Made fullscreen renders of them too, just hit those links below to be served in 1280 glory.

[edit] Oh, maybe I should add that I will be away for several days now. So I can take no action of submiting my pictures anywhere. [edit]

I really do appriciate all the support you have given me during this month. See you all next challenge.

This is the image that I participate in the voting with:

This image, but in fullscreen.

Just for show here comes the interior alone.

This image, but in fullscreen.

Very nice work, although I have one little observation: the way the ropes that hold the baloons are held to the circular metal bar doesn’t seems very solid, just a simple loose knot… anyway, that’s just a small detail in one wonderful piece of art! I’m especially impressed by the map in the cabin, probably been alot of work just for that little piece of paper hanging on the wall! :applause:

[edit]Oh! the map is intersecting with that ‘bone’ on the table :)[/edit]

#167

Knarly finish dude!:airguitar …cant wait to see what you got for the next challenge.

#168

I am most humble in your presence, master Mikael P.
Upon seeing the renders, I can only stand in awe.
