I don’t know whether to make the wings out of cloth or newspaper… I want to make them as flimsy as possible!
Above & Beyond - Vehicle/Character - Erilaz
Another angle. The chains will support the cannon. So you think I should make them sag, or be really taut?
I’m starting to think my heart isn’t in this one. Feel like I’m plodding along.
Hey there erilaz, how’s it going? Well, well, things are shaping up well here I see. I like what you did with the character (hehehe, love the wings). You said you feel like you are plodding along, well then, how about creating three common objects (things that would look good piled up together, example, chairs, couch, barrels, tv’s, etc. ) and squish everthing underneath the canon so it looks like it’s holding it up (there should be no empty space). Clone, change size, warp and do whatever it takes to make it look like even more objects
You have already started on this theme, but you just need to model a few more objects for cloning.
Then, you will have one large junk pile, a ladder to the top, and your rather good looking man, ready to be shot into the heavens heheheh. That should be rather interesting:)
Otherwise, things are coming along, just keep at it pal :wip: :wip: :wip:

Apt Pupil says it all, lots of junk every where, piled high and then some. The imaginative use of junk is the best part of this machine so keep adding.
WOW! Thanks guys! I didn’t expect that!
OZ: Thanks for the comment! I like the way my character is turning out too! Keep your’s going (you’ve got the most views out there pal!)
Apt Pupil: You’re absolutely right. I’ve been meaning to junk it up a bit, but haven’t thought the time prudent. I’ll get onto it!
Oh, and you’d better get yours finished too, because it absolutely rocks!
Clanger: Thanks! I suppose that’s why I made the balcony floor so large, to fill it up with stuff!
Whee! Not really an update, just wanted opinion.
I wanted to just weld the chain to the screwpole here, like this. Does it just look too “placed”? I was thinking maybe I’ll tie it there with string instead.
Any crits on that?
Stuff for the table.
Just to let you know, this is not a rip-off of Apt Pupil’s idea, I was planning to do the pilot’s design drawing stuff on the table from the get-go.
And let’s face it, I couldn’t beat Apt Pupil’s effort anyway!
Here we go:
How it’s looking so far. I’ve just realised what the date is, and I’ve realised there is no way I’ll be finishing this challenge on time!!:annoyed:
Ah well, I’ve always said the thing about these challenges is not to finish or to win, but to learn, and I learn a lot!!
Whee! I love doing 3d! :bounce:
Excuse my random outburst of joy, but I just realised how much I really enjoy this!!
Naturally, since my pilot has had many failed attempts, he has decided he didn’t have enough pipes. More pipes obviously means more propulsion… doesn’t it?:surprised
Okay… this one may be hard to explain…
Here goes!
This is the lever that fires the cannon. Since the pilot doesn’t have an assistant, he’s pulling it himself, via a series of pulleys, which then drapes down onto a ready loop for him to release.
Eeep! Wrong pic!
THIS is the lever, the above pic is the cord the pilot pulls to get the lever to work!
The whole point of these challenges is to improve our skills Axie! Join in the fun!
And thanks!![]()
Nice one erilaz! Would be cool to see a pic of the ignition. Just put lots of motion blur on him!!
fetus
Thanks Fetus23!
I’m attempting to do 3-4 renders for the final:
- At his desk hammering something
- Looking up at his creation with his hand on the ladder
- In the cannon, hands curled around the rim of the cannon mouth
- The inevitable flying!
While I’m posting, can anyone tell me if particle systems/atmospheric effects are against the rules? I just want to add smoke/steam to my pipes.
This is the set up for my first shot. No time for textures unfortunately!:hmm:
Aptly titled “Back to the drawing board”
Second shot set up.
You may have noticed my lever has gone. Some of my recent files got corrupted. Dang it!
