abandoned work

Well this might give you a laugh.
This was my first model in AM. It was going to be for a series of illustrations for an english language teaching book. It was a month of sheer hell trying to learn AM9.5 on the hoof and coping with it’s crashes and model corruptions. When I eventually showed it to the client it was rejected because:
“the Ukraine thinks it looks like a terrorist”

I went back to drawing.
That was last November and it has taken me until now to be able to face using AM again. I’m on v10 now and I have to say it is a much happier experience.

Here is the little fellah in question. The clients also didn’t think he looked cute.

Eyes a little closer might help.

But that’s sort of a funny story you have- funny as long as it didn’t happen to me.

Nice pose, nice lines. Almost looks hand-drawn. I aggree though that the eyes are a little odd. They should maybe be closer and perhaps they need eyelids. He doesn’t look like the kind of character to have “stuck on” eyes.

Looks real nice though.

I’m not laughing, I like the model (but I’ll be really boring and agree about the eyes) but maybe there’s something about your clients requirements that you didn’t “culturaly” see?

Gone back to drawing huh? I’m thinking of getting my plasticene out myself.

;o)

I did actually do a version with eyelids, eyes closer together and smaller head. It came out looking like Yodas kid brother, a bit dull really.
Still, I now know what to look for in Ukranian airports!

Hey that’s not bad… considering length of time and all. My first model was nowhere near that good. This will give you a laugh: When I first bought A:M, I was so new to the whole concept of modeling that I didn’t know that you had to connect the splines via the control points!:scream:  :applause:

Eventually, I bought the training videos and watched Jeff Cantin’s tut on Basic Splinemanship… watched it step by step, went back to my computer, connected those splines and… imagine that!

I had the image of a dinosaur in the form of a bunch of unconnected splines. So hats off to ya…

LOL, I did the same thing narraazzi! Except I figured it out when I lathed a spline. I saw they were connected and went …“oh!”

I think he is great - nice modeling. I have to ditto the eyes comments. They look like theyll fall off if he sneezes to hard. :>
