A Stroke of Luck, Carlos Ortega Elizalde (3D)

#1

Title: A Stroke of Luck
Name: Carlos Ortega Elizalde
Country: MX
Software: Maya, Mudbox, Photoshop

A stroke of luck or a gift from God
The hand of fate or devil’s claws

Modeled in Maya and rendered in GPU with FurryBall 3 renderer, final size was 10000 px tall. Render time was around 45 mins total and was rendered by sections. Textures in Mudbox, background and touch ups in Photoshop.

I modeled this girl last year for a demonstration and for a version of my web portfolio that never went live. I recorded most of the stages from modeling to lighting for a demo as a quick walkthrough but never had the chance to make a final render until recent.

Great work!
The render time is really impressive for a 10000px image.
I would love to see that record, is there a chance to make it available?

I am always impressed with your work and always look forward to when you post new images. The mood, lighting, and textures in this one are fantastic. Have you ever considered making a start-to-finish tutorial for how you make these? I would happily pay for a tutorial if you ever do make one.

Hehe, I never get tired of your ideas. Clever use of the suits, you’ve got me checking everywhere to see where else they popped up.

Excellent render.

Heidy: Thank you!, my pleasure, I love your work!
Tsart68: Thanks Simon!
sebbiej: Thanks Seb, most of the original files are somewhere in my hard drive, I only used some parts at hi-speed for the demo :stuck_out_tongue: I will try to compress all the raw files to a decent size.
yuriki: Thanks Yuriki!
Dillster: Thanks to you Dylan for the words and the visit
SuperHero: Thank you Yasin!
ortegabh: Yeah I know, I was impressed too with the final resolution (which was a finger mistake at first, but decided to push the engine to its limits hehe) I was uploading to vimeo a quick walkthrough, not the normal speed nor the full recording, but it shows pretty much the proccess. Thanks for the words, Rodrigo.
gu: Thanks Gustavo! (now thats a practical username  )
gherrera: Thanks for the words Gabriel! saludos!
Mr-Evil-studio: Thank you! some flaws here and there though hehe :stuck_out_tongue:
jsgknight: Hey Jason, thanks for the words! yeah I have considered, actually this year I had a couple of tutorial projects and left a third one unfinished… between a new job and an animation course I was taking I felt more on the “keep learning” side than the “teaching” side :frowning: But of course I will resume those projects soon, hope something good comes from that!, thanks for the words!
song861228: Thank you ZhiPeng!
YashaP: Thank you Yasha!
feysless: Thank you Feysal, it’s a pleasure
WyattHarris:Ha! awesome, thank you Wyatt!

Sorry for the huge and collective reply, It feels great to read comments from the colleagues, you took your time to write some lines here so taking some time to say thanks is the less I can do, thank you! cheers
