Hey Peter,

It seems that this character of yours is in some sort of dense matter like water in the way that he floats at times. Another thing, if possible I think he needs to have some rotation on himself (that ball part) and some more joints in his legs to make it more natural.

thanks

yes it walks like robot doesnt have a joint thats why I think

thanks peter

Hey,

I don’t think his head should move so much side to side, I always think when doing walk cycles that his head is fighting against doing this so that all u get is a little rotation side to side. Plus there is something wrong with the legs that I can’t quite put my finger on.

Ben.

Hey Peter, great job so far! I think the leg problem the previous post mentioned is that the thigh comes horizontal, almost like he is high stepping. I think if you pull his hip control up and angle it forward a few degrees, it would fix this problem.

#9

I played with the curves a little bit

have a look

Hey Salvator,

I think u still have to fix the head up, dunno anyone who naturally walks like that. And the problem with the legs is that u got the hip down too low, his knees are far too bent.

Cheers,

Ben

#11

so you say the hip is too down it needs to be up

Peter

#12

Yeah man, try that out and see what u get.

#13

ok I made the hip a bit up in every step frame it seems better I will upload and have a look

Hey Salvator,

I don’t think there is enough follow through on the upper body, his weight is transfered when he steps from foot to foot, but this seems to have no affect what so ever on his upper body, the head needs more “arcage” dunno if this is a word, but more arcs. Digital tutors are good at teaching this in their training on the topic. Oh yeah and I think the rotation of the head from side to side is too much.

Ben,

Lots to say.
First off dont worry about the head turning back and forth. Just focus on the triangle of the hips and feet.
You need a lot of work. Your toes need some drag, your contact is not clear enough, and the ankles look stiff as they are not blending. Almost magnet shoes.
Keep working on it. or delete all your keys and start over. Hiding your arms and ignoring the head for now.

Wheres your hip action? The hip is in the triangle.

Copy this image as a starter. Make your walk from Right heal contact to Left heal contact, 12 frames if your working at 24fps.

Use this image as a guide(for now, copy it exactly)

Your stride says a lot about the character. Your Contact Pose, IMO, is very important.

see how your legs are popping. Thats because your legs are fully extended.
If your rig has auto stretch, use it. Or just make sure your legs never get 100% straight.
This will help avoid pop.

Your character has no weight. The frame after the passing pose should feel like your character will fall over if he doesnt step.

All an all, you need to study like a mad man, because your still way off. Spend a day studying and with your next playblast, let me see your notes on what you want to change about it.
I need to see that you are critiquing as well, instead of just leaving it up to the poor soul like me to do the work for you.
Make a note of ten things wrong and equally what you will do to fix it. Before you go in doing it.
I dont feel you are thinking things through. Forgive me if this sounds bad.\

People can help you better if you use a frame counter too.
