A question on further education / What I should consider next.

Hello,

So I finished college nearly a year ago and am now working in post production / motion graphics for TVC. I did my bachelors in Multimedia Design Im currently mostly working with AE/C4D when needed and Resolve for Grading. So all in all im getting great exp as some of these ad’s are for some of the biggest clients in the city.

So now thats ive broken in and am racking up XP ive been here for about 7 months now but id like to start thinking about further studies. Im looking at doing a Masters in Computer Programming / Computer Science which Id like to branch out into graphics programming say for game engines or VFX technical roles. Id love to hear some thoughts on this / experiences also if possible.

A second option is for me to branch out into an MBA or something on the Business side but this is a shot in the dark as I know a friend who did the same and landed a nice role in the Business of graphics…long story, anyways combining my current degree and exp with a business degree what are your thoughts on that ? Worth nothing i dont plan on commencing this ‘further study’ till ive got at least 2 years of XP down on my folio with my current company so please factor that in that this is two years on.

Id Ideally like to stay in post but im looking at fields like video game design / creative direction for video games or even going into visual effects for film as somebody that works as a technical director but id like some more insight how to best spec my self from here on out.

Thanks

If you are interested in VFX, I would check out Lost Boys - School of VFX. We have a high placement rate and are industry recommended. Before deciding on a school I would advise connecting with the alumni and looking at their work and asking about the experience they had. Be careful with some of the larger schools as they tend to only show you the best students and do not allow access to all alumni to contact. Also do not be fooled by the big marketing that some of the larger schools have.

Wishing you the best in whatever you decide.

If you would like more information about Lost Boys feel free to contact me ria@lostboys-studios.com.

Agree about contacting alumni.

I contacted over 30 Gnomon alumni before I decided to attend. The more the better.
