A:M or XSI? To be or to not be, in what a question?

On package Hash Animation Master how much is good what to not pass to work in Softimage XSI. At whom what experience, tell about it please.

Anything in Animation Master will be easier. The workflow is very nice, and when the features work, they are in general quite nice.
XSI is a fully proffesional, fully featured package. If you have the opportunity to learn it, do so, it will only be to your benefit. It is more advanced, has more options, features, and power. It will also take longer to do anything with. I dont use it, but if you really want to have a taste of it, go to the Softimage site and try out the Softimage experience software. That is free of charge, has very few limitations, and has many training documents.

I cannot help but wonder why you would compare the two tho.
One is an amature program of unbelievable potential, and a long history of failing to meet that (tho it is coming around quite well recently). The other is a top-of the line and very expensive piece of software.

It is my understanding that A:M is geared towards a single artist, whereas XSI is geared towards large teams. In other words, you’ll have a much easier time going from concept to finished animation with A:M if you are a single artist.

Actually XSI works pretty nicely straight out of the box for a single artist (if a single artist has $14000 to spare). The tools are not that complex and you won’t need to do any scripting. Plus, it comes with a simple rig (a little like the Setup Machine) and has a built in compositor. For a single artist or small studio I think XSI would be my choice, if it didn’t cost so damn much. If taking price into account (which I do, because I’m not a millionair), AM is my choice.

For Maya and Houdini, it holds more true that they’re made for big studios with in house coders, and are not particualarly well suited for a small team or single artist.
