a decent documentation is needed !!!

To the messiah team:

I have recently purchase the messiah software package
and now I am finding out that the documentation is completly outdated,
many important features are not documented not even with a single line.

Don’t you think that it isn’t asking too much to expect a commercial software to include at least some sort of minimal documentation.

All I hear is: “search the forums & mailing lists”
NO - I don’t have time for this !

Do you think it is too much to ask for,
to have one of your experts sit down for an afternoon
and write at least a short paragraph on each feature
and how to apply it.

If you think I am asking too much,
I would like to return the software and get my money back !

Thank you !

P.S. I don’t mind that the software is buggy and crashes a lot.
I could live with that, if there was at least a proper documentation !

Hi! The docs are being worked on. What specific important features aren’t documented? It’s possible I’ve missed something and I want to be sure to address it. Thanks!

Hi Fred…
(So you are the source of humor behind the demonstration videos eh?) I kind of compiled a list of things that had been mentioned…

Some Effects (for example Walker) are completely undocumented.

Some things should have been completely disabled like Walker, Autorig II, and Soft Antialias or not even mentioned until fully operational and completely documented. It’s a bit deceptive to have these “available” in their half-baked state. This only leads to a lack of credence for pmG and frustration for the users.

I’m refering to a previous post from just a few days ago : ‘messiah bible needed’

People run away cuz of ‘insufficient docs’.

To pmg : Do something about it guys!

To cornel H. : I know production is production but… Keep that copy for a little longer. Give it a chance and you will be surprised by it’s efficiency. I can tell you what i know. For rigging and animation is zzzeee best quality/value.

I have been looking at Messiah for year since pmG said they will port it ot Mac. UNtil now, I have both PC and Mac and I still didn’t buy it even with the new lower price because the lacking of document. It’s reasonable now, but I’m not going to pay for what I’m not sure how I would learn it.

I would certainly agree with chikega on the frustration from features being half-baked. I realize PMG probably has a small team developing Messiah, but some information about the progress or priority of AutoRig II would be nice. I have completely abandoned using Messiah until they complete the AutoRig feature. I have been told by some on this forum to just learn to rig. Thanks for the advice but my project requires automation and the use of the AutoRig feature. This is why I purchased Messiah. I have since moved on to another tool to accomplish my work. Messiah will continue to collect dust until AutoRig is fixed.

So, I will try this question again… when will we see a fix for AutoRig II?

Also, I would use AutoRig I… but I have absolutely no idea how to use it in the latest version of Messiah:Animate.

Thanks,

A small team is no excuse.

The minimum of documentation
needs to be applied no matter how small the team,
it is a matter of discipline and respect to the user.

I am really upset about the lack of information
on motion dynamics, because this is such a central important issue
for animation.

I would like to request a detailed tutorial or feature documentation, on how to apply motion dynamics to achieve fat jiggle, secondary animation as antennas, tails and flapping ears.

There are posts in the forum regarding these issues, but there is not enough information
and I don’t have time to try all possible options to get results.
