A couple of new Images

I think I read somewhere where you have to trash your preferences in your situation…have you contacted Lux about the problem? I would. But yes, confidence learning a new tool is paramount.

You’ll be set with the 10.5 and Vray! Unstopable:-)

I’ve been in EI for the last 2 weeks almost non-stop and it behaves amazingly well - client loves the results and tweaks are very fast. Part of the project I am on was also done in Modo - EI couldn’t handle it anywhere’s near as well …was nice to have Modo as a contrasting render.

I’m going to hold off on upgrading right away. I’m either viewed as an EI troll now or the comparison I had asked for using HDRI for illumination was a problem so no-one took up the request…I was surprised. Such a simple request. I’m going to see how well things are actually implemented before I spend. I think if everything is implemented very well I will get the upgrade but until I know, I have elsewhere which demands my cash for the time being.

Re Modo, I reinstalled the whole thing, so that should sort the prefs, yes? Still same problem- you’d have though that it would behave for a bit… The problem seem to manifest after I had run Norton- so I think I will report it to Luxology.
Re EI, it’s strange that they won’t let potential customers know what the full spec is…
With GI in EI I think that render speed is always going to be an issue, also lack of feedback.
The UK Maxon office contacted me today and I may be able to get a deal upgrading to 10.5.
I just got the 301 training DVD by Dan Ablan and its good, so I’ll keep one eye on Modo. The DOF rendering with vRay looks very good, and I know it renders quicker than c4d’s AR render, so I think that’s the way to go.

Well don’t jump too soon. I know there isn’t a full spec sheet out yet, but I’d care to bet that whats being reported for v7 in the preliminary features list is pretty solid. They want to release by Nov 15th…so there can’t be too much more they can add at this time. If its anything, they will be minor features or bug fixes. I believe they’re also collecting samples of the HDRI capabilities…so those are coming.

There are four large announcements outside of v7 EI plans to make over the next couple of days and weeks. I promise you’ll be interested.

Leopard’s launch is soooo blah compared to all this EIAS excitement!

This reminds me of a very brief line in the 6.6.1 Press release dated March of 2007.

We are already well on our way to version 7.0 of EIAS and have begun the development of two new products for the 3D marketplace.

Exciting stuff. Can’t wait to see what Brad and company have cooked up.
