I definitely agree with the figure art part. You can never learn enough anatomy, once you know the rules of anatomy you know how to stretch and manipulate them to your desires. A good site for you to reference for some basic anatomy & muscle structure is http://www.posemaniacs.com/. I think you would also find it useful that their models are capable of you fully rotating them and getting to them from different angles. Mess around and find different poses, sketch out the muscle flow and such, then when you have the tools in front of you, the “art part” will come much easier.
