I have been thinking about giving A:M another chance (mainly due to JoeW’s incredible work with 10.x). I bought 9.x last year, and found it to be virtually unusable due to it’s constant crashing & broken features. So, I’m wondering: Is 10.x more stable? Are most of it’s features working properly? What’s the general concensus on 10.x vs 9.5? Thanks
9.5 stability vs 10.x
I’m glad to say that stability has been significantly improved in v.10! I’m working very intensively (up to 15 hours per day) with A:M for last month and so far (crossing fingers here), I almost didn’t have problems. I did have few crashes at beginning, while I was still modelling- mostly when saving files, but I didn’t lose any data because of that (looks that sometimes A:M crashes immediately AFTER saved files. So fortunately files on the disk are not corrupted).
And I did NOT have a single one crash for last 14 days while animating! Imagine!
So- yes, I think that v.10 is much more stable than v.9 and even useable for serious work!
It’s definitely much more stable. A lot of things that caused crashes or wierd errors in 9.5 work smoothly in the 10.5 beta, and the program overall seems much cleaner and more dependable–everything seems to work. That’s not to say I trust it as much as most programs…but for AM, it’s incredibly stable.
