i decided to start on the next one …

this time i am going with a 70’s chevelle SS
would update this thread from time to time as i progress on the model

#2

looking sweet so far. The chevelle is one of my favs. I also really like the Nova SS. Keep up the good work.

#3

You and the american muscle car. Beautiful work so far. You have a great eye for the classics. Can’t wait to see it evolve.

#4

Hey cool to see you’re making one more.

For some reason it doesn’t look that deformed right now. Are you going to deform it later?

How about a mustang next?

I did the same as you: I moved from France to US, and got one of those babes from the 60s (talking about a car here, not a lady… even if it’s costing me more money than any ex-girlfriend).

well…i try to update my stylisation for these babys …
trying to do this one in the same style as the 32’s roadster … not too overdone …
at this stage i did chop it down a bit … and did widen the rear a lot … in the top picture …it might look like a perspective distorsion …but … the body is heavylly deformed

How about a mustang next?

humm i might sound like an incult persone with a sad lack of taste …but the mustang never really interested me … expet may be the latest generartion ( but that another story )
i am more into the chartger , chevelle , chalenger , roadrunner … gto … and so on …
everything between … 68 and 74

as i moved down from texas to LA , i was looking into buying one of two beauty … a black 69 charger in a great shape and a good price or a bright orange 69 chevelle with an insane price tag
then my wife came into play .,… and i ended up buying a volvo

should have an update around monday …

Looks great of course. Looking forward to the next update.

P.S. - I can never get ahold of you, you’re impossible. I’m still anxious to learn more.

#7

Ahah. Yup, sometimes I’m almost happy to be single.

Unlike girls, cars won’t let you down
Yesterday I ran off the road over 40mph with my 68 stang (didn’t see the road turning in the dark). I thought I ruined it, the way I hit and jumped over that bump. I was amazed that I could not find a single scratch, nothing. with rescent car, I would have probably broken the stearing and wrecked some fiberglass. I almost shitted myself though (and no, I wasn’t drunk).

Anyway, looking for update

I’m looking forward for a deformed Ferrari. It must be nice to see the engine also.
hmmm…batmobile next?

hummm… well i dont know … if i ever do one… it would could only be a Ferrari Berlinette 375 , or may be a 1960 Ferrari 250GT

here a small update and a wire for now i mostly changed the proportion from the top … that + a big mutha freacking blower and big tires … should be enough to get it up to part with my ford 32 without loosing the spirit of the chevelle

wow. clean mesh and cool sds modeling. Looking forward to seeing interior.

#11

Thats a pretty shiny car :P. Looks really sweet though so far. The modeling looks really nice and clean :D.

#12

Hey Chris! Nice Car, could be out of GTA…

Well, I like to know how you model this babe? Some words about your modeling technique, and maybe some pics to exlpain would be nice

regards, Daniel

#13

Hey Christophe.

Great progress on this car. Again a nice job. What app are you modeling and rendering in? XSI I guess!?

Anyway…can’t wait to see more. Keeeeep it up!!

#14

Looking great so far. Looks you become big american car fan.

I like the renders on light yellow. Reminds me old posters from 50-60th.

Looking forward

#15

hi guys … thx for the replies

Looking great so far. Looks you become big american car fan.

yes… i did like them even befor i moved to this great country . but now … it’s even more crazy … here in santa monica they are everywhere on the street … i see a t least 2 or 3 of them every days

I like the renders on light yellow. Reminds me old posters from 50-60th.

just toying around in post … kind of lik ethe graphic novel look … but i think that the final rendering would be more atuned to my other cars rendering

Great progress on this car. Again a nice job. What app are you modeling and rendering in? XSI I guess!?

yes for this one … modelling and rendering in xsi … at least for now

Well, I like to know how you model this babe? Some words about your modeling technique, and maybe some pics to exlpain would be nice

sure ,… nothing else than good old extrude method , 2 picture in the background ( front and side ) + a shit load of other reference image and a model kit for good mesure
then i start with a lonely flat polygon , extrude the edges and extrude again …and again… ad nauseam keeping everything as much as possible clean ( polyflow ) and avoiding any NGON
nothing really fancy . i dont use curves or patche as i dont have the patience to lay them ,
from time to time … i might use the island methode … for dificult or critical area … but it dont happen too often …
i might come with a dvd tutorial over this summer , if my time planing allow it

#16

did some more modelling in maya over the week end …

#17

looking good! keep it coming

#18

Started off in XSI and going further on modeling in Maya? – Is this to strengthen your modeling skills in Maya?
Do you made any significant changes to the mesh after converting? If so, it would be nice to get a look on 'em.

Anyway…keep things going

Is this to strengthen your modeling skills in Maya?

i am working all the day in maya … ( modelling and game level layout )
and as much as i love xsi . this is really a pain in the but , switching between two application … and i dont talk just about modelling , but about riging and rendering too

this kind of situation… make me really slow … as i have to adjust my brain and workflow … between the two … then, even if i know a really good deal of stuff in both application , i still have a lot to learn in xsi and in maya …
and i miss the good old days … as i was using lw , i could call myself a power user … these day … i know only one area to professional level in maya and xsi … and that modelling
i am still exploring the other area , like shading , riging , particle … and so on …
and on top of that the production world …seem to favor maya these day … that why i force myself to stick with it

Hi Chris ! Long time no see !
I’m glad to see a new project of yours. I don’t browse the forum very often those days…
Nice new car ! No doubt it’s gonna be another great one !
I think you could increase the size of the blower/bump on the hood, maybe up to the half of the windshield, and reduce the diameter of the front wheel, to increase the “rake” of the car…
About my work, I finished my F100 and uploaded it in the finished works looong time ago ! (September). I should update my signature !
The '27 DirtTrack is still on its way, but it’s going very slowly. I’m still in a modeling process, and just made a part of the engine and some things here and there since the last update…nothing worth being shown, I think, but I’ll post a little update soon, though !
keep up the good work !
See you.
Chris.
