[3dsMax Script] Scene Notes Pro

#1

Adding notes directly in scenes(.max files) can be useful in many ways - to remind you something about any aspect of whole process of 3d work, for future reference, about whys or hows, for a colleagues(who are going to use the scene).

Scene Notes Pro is here to make this task easier.

You can add notes using 9 predefined categories - Animation, Lights, Materials, Modeling, Rendering, Rigging, Texturing, Unwrap and No Category.
Each one of those caterogies have its own icon and color so the notes will be colored with different colors and can be easily visually separated when you check them.

All notes are permanently saved to the .max file and can be accessed at any time by any user from supported 3ds Max versions with the script installed and .max file opened.

Scene Notes Pro offers you:

· resizable user interface
· sort notes by Category, Completed, Not Completed, Date Created Ascending, Date Created Descending, Date Modified Ascending, Date Modified Descending
· add Author and Date and Time
· save notes to the max file
· different colors and icons for notes
· edit notes
· delete notes
· mark notes as completed
· select only notes of arbitrary category
· show Notes On File Open
· show only notes from arbitrary category
· bake selected notes into a text object

This is commersial script. You can find more information here: Scene Notes Pro.

Looks useful indeed.

All notes are permanently saved to the .max file and can be accessed at any time by any user from supported 3ds Max versions with the script installed and .max file opened.

Have you considered making the notes readable (perhaps in a less pretty and non editable way) for people who don"t own the script? That way it would be more useful for freelancers as they can use one system for all of their notes and don’t have to expect or ask the customer to buy/have the script. (And the customer might buy it anyway, but don’t quote me on that.)

#6

This is a good idea. Thank you. I will add this to the next version.

Scene Notes Pro is updated to version 1.2
Changelog:

  • some bugs are fixed.

Scene Notes Pro @ Show Notes Only is released.
It allows you to read the notes saved with Scene Notes Pro.
You can’t add and/or edit the notes, only to read them in case that you do not own Scene Notes Pro.

Thanks so much! Just bought the script.

Im afraid it’s not quite what I had in mind, though, as even getting a customer to install or use a free script can be a bit of a hassle.
Ideally there would be a way to convert the scene notes to something like a non renderable Max text object in an extra “notes”-layer. That way I can place it promintently in the scene or hide it when saving the file, depending on the situation, and everyone would be able to read it directly.

@Noren, thank you.

Can you send mail me at miau_u@yahoo.com with detailed description of how exactly you wnat this “new feature” to works? It will be good if you send me a sample scene with added notes(using Scene Notes Pro since you already have it) and extra “notes”-layer. This way I will be much easier for me to create the tool that you want.
