A Newton field is just a fake simulation of the “mass attracts other mass” (garbage) physics (action at a distance) that Newton derived. In reality, gravity is simply an acceleration of motion based on radius, so if you can manage an acceleration then you’re pretty much done. An acceleration is of course just a change in velocity over any given dt (delta-time, or change in time). I’ve manually done it many time in Maya using keyframes alone, though this may not be optimal for your needs in Max.
