3ds MAX and backburner - networking workflow



I need to know whether assets are copied to the rendering server machine before each render is started.

Here is a small diagram of what my question is…

If you want, you just click include maps.

Alternative is have both machines reach the same location at the same time eg.


To answer your first question:
No assets are not natively transferred, they are read from the location they are, so if both machines cannot access this location at the same time your textures will fail on the slave machines. Pressing the button ‘include maps’ sends each machine the .max scene with all assets included - takes much longer and uses more space if you are doing many renders so ensure you clean it out once and awhile.
