3d still collaboration - looking for training partners

hmmm good idea… anyway we can get a simple quick sketch and work from there?

#38

We could really use a 2d artist.
I’m actually seriosly contemplating just modelling the pirate in the red coat.

#39

well i guess u could… start on it and post shots of it as you work and get C&C and we can bounce ideas off people.

#40

This forum uses vB code however so …

(Just remove the red dots)

The other option is to attach files using the [Manage Attachments] button listed under “Additional Options” when making a new post. Upload your full size image and a thumbnail is auto created.

I was hoping that we would manage the general outcome of the project here, maybe post some update images, but at the same time all of the members would get crits on their assigned piece from the community. Maxumum learning, maximum community involvement.

#42

Great. I am currently moving and trying to get all my stuff together. As soon as i am settled and get my workstations up i will take a crack at something.

#43

I’ve been trying to find a good front and side, athletic male guide image for my background, to model against. Anyone have mine. I don’t want to have to go installing my old hard drives to find mine.

#44

uhhh google image search? but good news i found a talented 2d artist… well i still have to talk her into helping us. But we shall see

#45

I didn’t have much luck searching on google image search, but I have something specific in mind.

Tell her, “We have good story with a subversively successful female protagonist who upsets the damsel in distress archetype”

#46

Thanks Kirt! That will come in handy.

#47

Glad you liked it! I originally wrote it as just a short story, though making it longer is an idea… I just got a big helping of humble pie from my writer’s workshop, and I’ve considered at least adding some more to it to maybe clarify some things. If you have any crits or comments I’d be glad to hear them.

#48

I am so going to use that!

#49

How about something like this?

http://www.marveldirectory.com/individuals/b/blackpanther.htm

I really like that pirate picture.

#50

Thanks, that’s a really good modelling reference. Probablya little too heroic, over athletic. I need that kind of reference but a little less muscular.

I was looking at www.3d.sk Lots of stuff there, but nothing just right.

#51

I hot linked the picture in the first post to hopefully inspire some artists who may have just scanned our thread

http://free-textures.got3d.com/natural/free-character-references/free-character-texture-references-man-3/index.htmlWhat do you think about this guy as the modelling refernce? I think he has the right jaw, and he’s wearing a suit, which I think would be reasonale to extrapolate to the one that our character is wearing.

All of the free references here. Woman 3 has an exotic look and and up hair-do that may work for a woman from this time period.

Ships.

This site is going to be invaluable

#54

I like the character reference pictures. I am going to try modeling the rowboat.

#55

I think Sycar would like to work on inorganic. Perhaps he gets the ship?

#56

oh its fine if he wants to start on the ship there are a lot of parts and detail that need/should be added
