3d Sculpting Workshop - Old Age

#381

you know, I was just thinking that! LOL :buttrock:

and hehe… yeah I guess one thing at a time is right - learning the tools is a good way to start and as long as you’re enjoying battling your mesh it’s a-ok! Keep it up Glenn!

Mr.James: Thanks James! Pity that you cant have photos of your grand because of distance, I bet that she would like a lot too! I have luck that mine is very close to me…:). Oh yeah,as I will progress with the model I will try adjust her wrinkles.

Intervain: Thanks Magdalena! I really glad to join the thread!

Yamasaki: Cool to see you here! Lets go man! Abraços!

Heres is a update

@ Mashru. I’ve just bookmarked TWEAK! in ZBC I see astonishing works (I’ve posted a couple of work there) but sometime I feel the same… Not just because you can overdetail you have too. I’ts like when you have a wonderful piece of art a perfect sculpture and then you apply ugly texture or shader :frowning:
keep up the good work to all

#387

hey guys

i’m out of town, from a few days, so sorry for the late reply. i’m in a internet cafe, so it would be a short reply. :D.
i just wanna say Great Thanks to Kris, for shareing the skin shader setup.i wasn’t at home yet to compare my shader’s setup , but i guess i’m getting near the result.
there is still a lot of work to i must redetail the face, like Magda did, (by the way , great update Magda).
i’ve managed to upload a render test, with the skin i did so far , it doesen’t look to good , but thanks to Kris i hope i will manage to fix it when i’ll got home.

here is the test render, only the face has a shader aplied :

Nice to see more people participating and great to see how everybody’s models are improving!

I tweaked the model’s face a little bit, started modeling new rings and props and changed the lighting setup. No improvements made on any maps at this point. I also added some DOF to see how it looks so far. I’ll keep fixing stuff on the next days/weeks and building the other pieces. Eyelashes and eyebrows to be added soon.

Hey Antropus,

great little updates. The rings seen from the front look better than before. But from the side they really look like floating.

I also wasn’t sure if you used displacement or just imported a highres mesh and used bump for more fine detail ?
I also work with maya and am still not sure what is the most comfortable way to work.

Little other remark: the body (torso) has a too little fine detail to match the detail on the head. The texture is fine but the mesh looks a little cheap. Maybe add some fine detail here and there?

cheers

edit: ps, what about the circular area in last 2 renders that doesn’t have noise? Looks like you did this afterwards, but on a mac it really shows! Be carefull with the final renders

#390

nice update antropus…but think the DOF is too strong, like a macro lens…

SEPT 10, 2007

GREAT update …Antropus… …I was wondering how you get the depth in the top one…where the ears, rings, ect. are blurred and set back into deep space, while the details of the front of her face, remain crisp…GREAT EFFECT…

GREAT to see the progress happening on everyone’s updates…

Just capturing a reacurring passing thought this morning, before it flies away into the darkness…Can be refined, reposed, rescaled, further down the line, but now at least the thought is captured, before it escapes…

#392

Nothingness,

thanks. Pretty much all your questions can be asked by reading my previous posts on this thread. This is not a final render, just a cheap “work in progress”. In fact, this whole model is cheap

robinmitra1,
maybe it IS a macro lens? I’ve seen this before in close up pictures like this one. It’s a possible effect.

SpiritDreamer,
it’s a DOF (depth of field) effect. You can do the same if you’re rendering with ZBrush, as I see you are, by using the alpha of your whole scene as mask for the lens filter in Photoshop.
I can make a mini tuto when I find the free time.

THANK YOU …Antropus …Any tutorial by you, at ANY TIME, would be very much welcomed, and appreceated…
I have never used photo shop before…just Painter #9 and Z BRUSH.
BUT I LEARN FAST…:scream:  …THANKS
TAKE CARE

Kris:
Awesome work… really nice “old” modelling. The only thing that i don’t like are her elbows and breasts… but it’s a matter of personal taste…
In my lcd monitor i’m seeing some strange stuff with your dof. In one of the images some areas have noise and on the center it doesn’t.
Have you tried dof pro generator of richard rosenman? it’s really good and cheap…

Dalton:
Nice to see you here too! Let’s sculpt! :buttrock:

#395

Sergio,

everything is really rough with my image right now. I mean, no final model, no final texture, no final render etc. This was a very cheap depth of field in PS and the problem with those areas without noise is that I’m generating the depth pass without any object as background, making impossible for photoshop to calculate the distance for anything related to the background. For my future renders I will just add a background object and it should work just fine.

As for the rest of the body, apart of the hands and face, everything else will be covered by cloth, so don’t worry

-Kris

#396

excellent progress Kris - I have only one thing to say - LOL and it’s back to the eyes :scream: - I do like the size now but what bugs me is that they’re so dark… eyes get really bright with age… but perhaps it’s your intention to make them really stand out! Anyway me likes  [my neck hurts though, just looking at the Karen women]

#397

Thank you Mag
Yep, I agree with you. The eyes need some love still (as everything else…). I’ll get there. I promise!
