I have played with zbrush a bit. I think I will zbrush this model for fine details at some point - time permitting.

BTW - I can understand you being busy. Know how you feel! No need to rush. Just whenever you get a free moment your crits will be very helpful!

jeremyengleman,

Hey there, it’s great to see your work here! You know, I had heard of you thru the Gnomon website, and your work is top notch! I checked out your website, and I think it’s cool to see you approach the traditional painting / drawing sessions this way with a laptop…it’s funny, because I remember a cartoon from back in the day where the visual joke was a bunch of people behind (desktop) computers, measuring the model with their pencils ~ LOL, that’s not so unrealistic these days! I really like the painterly approach you’ve taken to your work ~ it would be interesting to see you take these further into all day or longer poses, and really refine the hell out of a few, to see if you could trick people into thinking that they were traditional pieces.

Beautiful work, and I’m thrilled you’ve posted work here! Definitely look forward to seeing more.

EDIT: Hmm, I’ve just seen your post on the Foot Studies thread, and for whatever reason, I can’t post a reply there now ~ this happens on occasion, meh! Wasn’t able to view the movie unfortunately…will try to do so again on a different machine. I think it’s great to see 3D work mixed with 2D ~ I look forward to seeing more of this type of work being done, particulary now that we have ZBrush!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Thanks! This is a really cool section of the forum, I only stumbled upon it recently. I love the ‘study’ nature of it.

Yeah, I’d love to do some all day poses, and really see what comes of it. Unfortunately my attention span for any one image tops out at about 3 hours, maybe that’s why I do the things I do?

I’ll definitely be posting more, maybe participate in the workshops.

Thanks again,

-J.

jeremyengleman,

Hey, we’d LOVE to have you participate in the Open Figure Drawing Workshops (OFDWs for short) ~ we’re currently on OFDW 006, with a new one launched every 2 weeks. Stahlberg participated in the first one, it was completely cool to see a 3D entry as well! Definitely looking forward to your participation in that and other threads on the forum!

Cheers,

Rebecca, so… the weekend is well past now… How about that much needed draw over on the model I posted? I could really use your expertise to spot any glaring flaws! If you are still really busy I understand though. Just trying to remind you!

#127

gardogg,

Really sorry ~ I completely forgot! Will try to do something this week ~ but have been super busy.

gardogg,

I definitely kicked myself when I read your comment here, I’m really sorry! I have been completely swamped as of late, and I admit that I totally forgot. Sorry for that ~ I hope it’s not too late. If I get some time, I’ll still try to do that.

Dimi,

Wow! Fantastic work! Thanks for posting ~ is this for the Spectacular Challenge? I know that you have a Chinese theme going, so this is why I ask. You are truly amazing ~ I saw your car ~ all I can say is, :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :applause:!

Great stuff. Hopefully will have a chance to do your and gardogg’s reviews soon.

#134

Yeah, I guess it is evil to cheat and get anatomy tips from Rebecca - the anatomy wizard! Nebezial, you have no room to talk about burning out. You have been working at burnout rate yourself with Dungeons and Dragons and Spectacular all at the same time. But, I’m not worried about you or Rebecca. You guys rock :buttrock:

#135

@nebz,

Thanks! I think! Lol, evil? I think not! I was actually kinda surprised more people didn’t post work for review ~ tho in truth, it’s prolly a good thing, as I haven’t had a lot of time recently for drawovers.

How’s your Spectacular entry coming? Have you won yet?

@gardogg,

Heehee, thanks!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

well unfortenutly all these awesome models don’t make mine look like much but heres my latest W.I.P, crits are more then welcome.

shes a she, if it wasn’t obvious ;).

oh and the dude wondering about rendering wires in max press “f10” select “renderer” from the top of the pop up window, and there should be a few options to check one of them is ofcourse “force wireframe”…u might want to turn off and smoothing u might have on for this.

m1tCh,

Welcome to the Anatomy Forum, and to CGTalk! Thanks for posting your work here. Don’t worry about other peoples’ work as much, seeing it is for inspiration, not intimidation, purposes. With respect to your model, I think the main bit to notice is that the features are looking a bit alien at this point. One of the reasons is that the eyes do not appear to sit within the eye sockets of the skull. The person should have a fold above the eyelid unless asian, and a bit of depth plus a clear transition from the area of the eye and the area of the eyebrow ~ right now there’s just a rather flat transition which is unrealistic.

Also, the nose is a bit large, and should be reshaped a bit. Take a look at real reference, such as:

You should definitely try to work from real reference whenever possible ~ even if you collage your own reference together from other features.

The other thing to notice is the flatness / pointiness of the ears. This is really what gives the person an alien appearance. Check out ear reference as well, from all angles, or look at your own ears and notice how soft and rounded they are.

Hope this helps! Definitely post an update if you can.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak
