Well I’m a newbie at using after effects and I need some help with an intro I’m making. I was watching this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ednH3hE2v6A and I got the hang of everything but when I try to zoom in to the other text it immediately spins to the next step without giving enough time to read the current text. Is there anyway I could stall the camera so it waits before moving to the second position?

What you need to do is put in another key frame in to hold the position.
You should check out these tutorials form Andrew Kramer and download the Sure Target preset. Takes a lot of the grunt work out of doing titles like these. The video copilot website and tutorials are a great resource if you are new to After Effects.
