3 Day Cinematic Challenge! Again!-WINTER Challenge- Post your ideas

#41

I recorded it as a timelapse, so I dont have a slower version - sorry!

The trees were done with camera projection. Compositing was pretty simple passes in After Effects. I tried to get as much done ‘in camera’ as possible - so things like fog and plur were done in VRay.
I honestly cant remember too many details, but Ill be doing similar things this challenge and will record some video to go along with it!

#42

Thanks man, looking forward to this.

P.S. Just got an idea for cinematic.

#43

@Puke
I watched yesterday what you did for the first “3 days cinematic”…

Did you just call him puke? Not cool man. :stuck_out_tongue:

I might get into this one, I hate rushing things up but it might be a pretty cool exercise!

#44

Hah… sorry Pyke
In the Serbia those 2 letters are kind of similar (cyrilic “U” is written similar to “Y”).

Sorry for the off topic guys.

#45

Guys what I need from you is to spread the word on the seven winds.
Point past members to this thread.
I will start formalizing rules during the day at the FXwars forum.

#46

Maybe a stupid question, but are people allowed to use pre made models or everything has to be made for the contest?

#47

I don’t have Saturday off at work. That basically leaves me even less time. I am going to start tonight. Friday will start in about 7 hours here. I shall create a thread titled “3 day cinematic challenge : redcigarette” in the spirit of the old cg challenges. I feel this challenge would be a good idea to test the limits of GPU rendering that I have been doing extensively for my current short. Having Mixamo access is also going to help.

Meanwhile I will think of some idea.

#48

@Grrrrr
I think anything goes as long as it helps you get from idea to storyboard to product.

Well, I’m inn, but not this weekend.
I probably have to render in the box, that cripples me somewhat,
I guess I have to be creative in that department.

#49

good question, I am debating about that one.
What do you guys think?
-R
Before you start some basic rules.

#50

Complete free for all. You can use anything at your disposal.

#51

Out of fairness everyone should list the major used prefab assets.

#52

Creating everything from scratch would be silly I guess. We use whatever we can at our disposal and just credit the resources.

#53

I agree.

I’m more in the mindset of creating your vision, and using what you have to assist you,
than creating something out of or based on what you already have.

And I don’t really expect anyone else to do this,
but I’ll probably go for making the soundtrack myself also.

Im happy with those!

I think that for the weekends topics we should have a choice of at least 2 topics per sprint - gives us a bit of wiggle room for inspiration!

DAMMIT THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!

#56

You are going to fail!
But that’s okay, I’ll be there as a voice of inspiration every step of the way.

Besides, no one is going to care about your result anyway, once they see my awesome work.

#57

Aim high, fail spectacularly!

“Don’t fear failure. — Not failure, but low aim, is the crime. In great attempts it is glorious even to fail.”

― Bruce Lee

#58

+1 to that.

Hey Roberto, the rules are perfect. By when can we know the theme? It would be great if we can get an early announcement of theme for the first sprint.

#59

Any problems with watermarks on Renders? have an idea that would be easiest done in Houdini but haven’t quite commited to buying a License of Houdini yet so still using the Free Apprentice version!

#60

I hear watermarks on the render are the new chromatic aberration!
