2D/3D/web, no exp., Chicago-Milwaukee area

#1

Hello, I’m looking for some leads or offers for “no prior experience” graphic design jobs in the Chicago to Milwaukee metro area. (Most listed jobs want experience, and just how am I supposed to get it? Thus my quandary…)

Education:
Associate’s degree in Graphic Arts, Robert Morris College. 2005
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts, Robert Morris College. (pending graduation this spring)

Previous employment (none related to this field, mostly temp or technical work):
Data entry, Circuit assembler, Temporary Rural Carrier U.S.P.S.(mailman), Machinist’s Mate 3rd Class.

Traditional art skills/training:
Drawing, painting, sculpting, photography

Software, learned in-class (strongest to weakest):
Illustrator, Flash MX, Dreamweaver, PhotoShop, Office, Quark, Director

Software, self-taught:
Paint Shop Pro, Wings 3D, UV-mapper (Classic), Bryce

Other areas of knowledge:
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ActionScript

Work I’m interested in:
F/T, small business or workgroup (less bureaucracy the better), variety of work, paced fast enough to be challenging/interesting - but not to the point of causing burnout, preference for web & multimedia design. I wouldn’t mind trying for industrial design, although I’m formally educated in graphic design. Also I’m interested in opportunities for learning 3D tools via on the job training (I am already familiar with the principles of polygon/sub-d modeling via Wings3D and basics of rendering via Bryce, I would like to broaden my software skill set.)

(Best variety of work, but also the largest range of quality. Quite a few are forum-humor related, and should not be considered as portfolio pieces.)

(Personal class project for web design. Might become 404'd after class ends.)

(Yes, this way of posting the email addy is not as convienient as a link or having it typed so you can copy and paste. I know. But you can thank the inventors of spam-bots for making me post it this way.)
