2 new mattes

#1

Here are my latest mattes. The first is of the Roman Coliseum. I hope that the main focus is on the coliseum and not an image of Roman ruins in general. At the moment I’m not sure if the other buildings compete too much with the Coliseum.

This is another personal piece for practice. I tried for a foreshadowing theme with incoming rain-clouds.

All comments and crits are welcome.

Hi Richard,
The 1st matte-painting looks great! I remember that the sky-color was too saturated before, but now it’s just perfect! The second image looks good too! But, I guess that the cloud at the BG, behind the castle, at the centre, looks a bit like smoke (too much saturation), and needs to be spreaded a bit more in volume; and the foreground trees needs to be cast into shadows, since there’s no lightsource from this side! Rest is very nice! You’re doing a good job! :buttrock:Keep it up man!

I think the first one the sky is too saturated ans monochrome, you need to low the saturation and add more color variation to it, it looks to unreal for the good job you have already done to rome , also you have some issues with the linear perspective on the coliseum
I agree that the clouds on the second one look more like smoke than stormy clouds. I think you need to push more your composition on both images, I don’t see a focal node or point of interest
good job , keep it up !

I agree with Jaime about the sky and colour variation on the first one, if you look at the hills directly beneath it they have a purplish tinge, this should be reproduced in the sky, as the landscape takes on more of the atmosphere the further away it is from the eye.
