2.5 Viewport Shaking (mac)

#1

Was just giving 2.5 a shot on my Mac (snow leopard), and when rotating, panning, or zooming the viewport it shakes as if i were violently shaking my mouse. Happens when doing other stuff like trying to move a vert. Pretty much unusable, so haven’t tried anything beyond that =(

I’m using a wacom intuos3 mouse. I don’t have a reg mac mouse to try :hmm:

Thanks for any help!

Probably not a mouse problem. Try changing Window Draw Method in User Options.

Hmm… That wasn’t it. Thanks for the quick response though

Had to disable “continuous grab” in the “input” Preferences. Works fine now, but having that feature enabled would be nice… Wonder if it has to do with having dual monitors with different resolutions.

Sounds plausible although admittedly I have no real clue about this, one thing though,
I believe one of the GSoC projects this year deals with input hardware support…

perhaps you should get in the contact with that particular developer(Mike Erwing),
I’m sure he could use a tester, and you might get him to look into the issue
with continuous grab on your wacom mouse?

or you could try pm-ing either letterip or broken on these boards
(broken[matt ebb] being mikes mentor in the SoC).

Great idea, and thanks for all the info…
Will do that now

Hi Fuzatron, Mike “the input guy” here. The view shakes quickly back and forth, not randomly, right?

Quick diagnosis:

  • tablet mouse causes shaking with continuous mode on
  • tablet pen works fine with continuous mode on or off
  • trackpad also works fine
  • regular Apple mouse also works fine
  • shakes on PowerBook (w/out monitor) also, so not multi-screen issue

I ran into this myself before the summer of code, but forgot about it! Thanks for bringing it up, I’ll work on a fix.

Running Snow Leopard with dual monitors at different resolutions I can’t say I’ve noticed your problem, even with continuous grab selected.

Thanks a BUNCH, Mike

Yeah. It’s not like a random shake. It’s more like a big vibration… Yep- I just tried the pen, and it’s fine… I don’t have the other hware to test with… And i’m using the latest wacom driver (6.1.5-2). Video card is NVidia Quadro FX 4500.

Thanks, Richard
Must have to do with some other variable on my machine(?)

Had the same problem with the Wacom mouse. Luckily I usually work with the pen which doesn’t cause the problem.

Maybe it is this:
