1930s Railway station - WIP

Thanks RBeks

I finally had some time to work on the 2nd boy. I am not quite happy with the first boy so I’ll make some improvements before rendering the final picture.

Next step is the woman and once I am done with her I will make the final details on the trainstation.

Congratulations, that is an amazing job.

Your renderings are fantastic. I really appreciate the tiny details you put into everything. Everything looks so realistic. Your textures really take the already fantastically crafted structures and make them look amazingly realistic. As a person that is relatively new to creating 3D models, this is really inspiring to see. Thank you so much for sharing.

n4uj, thanks

StacyPhantom, You are welcome and thanks a lot. I am glad that it shows that I’ve spent a lot of time on this.

I’ve made a few more items. A luggage wagon and 2 suitcases. Just different versions of the same design.

I need to make a few more suitcases. The woman in the forground will be carrying one of the suitcases. I am not sure which. I need to test which one fits better with the color of her dress.

It looks soo sweet! I’m just amazed how much atmosphere your images have.

mister3d, thank you

I finally had some time to work on this scene again. This Time I’ve finished the woman who will be standing to the right of the newspaper stand.

Looking good and don’t give up on this project cause at the end will be awesome. I think that, the women feet, something is weird…they are big or the lens is to wide?

#48

Thanks MGC  I am not giving up on this, but it is taking a bit longer than expected

I think you are right. Her feet looked too big. I have reduced the size of her feet, moved the pocket and made her hands a little bit smaller. I hope it looks better now

Looks very good  Reminds me a lot about the movie Hugo - Cabret. They also had a trainstation scene that looks really similar. You can check out the Pixomondo Making Of on Youtube, it can maybe give you some good ideas!

Best,
Jonas

Well this is a complex scene so to get every detail right, that take’s time. Much better, not sure your ref images, but bare in mind that womens, even if they are not skinny, they have small feet, and for me the shoes still look to big. And maybe the other reason that something is not right, is that when a foot is on an heel, the women get taller, and I feel that this character is diving into the shoes.
But I am talking on this individual character, and maybe in the hole scene look’s good.

Look at this image link:

PS: I really love her expression

#52

Wow amazing project, it looks beautiful already. Keep on working and posting the updates, cant wait to see the end result!

#53

JonasNoell, thanks. I will take a look at that  I was also inspired by Hugo. I loved the look of the whole movie. My station also used parts of the roof from Copenhagen train station and the columns from Gare du Nord in Paris.

Elgstrom, Thanks a lot. I appreciate that

MGC, thanks that helped a lot. I have remodelled the feet to make them look a bit more like your reference photo but in high heels that aren’t quite as tall. I think it looks better than before

#54

yes yes it’s much better

#55

I wasn’t happy with the way the small boy looked, so I made some changes. I changed the stuffed animal to make i look more like it was made in the 1920-1930s

The old version: Old version

#56

This is going to be a master piece.

#57

Looking very good. Now is more mature and have more details. Awesome :applause:

#58

Looks really amazing, I can’t wait to see the image finished. :bounce: I have a question though as your textures look awesome, what’s your workflow for texturing? And are you using your own/ free images from the net or a commercial collection?

#59

This ^

It already looks so good, really great atmosphere.

Thanks a lot guys. I am happy you like it so far.

MGitop: I have a lot of textures from some of my own project, but I have used CGtextures a lot to create my textures.
For clothes I have simply been searching for pictures on google. For large pictures of pants and shirts or for pictures of fabric that I could use as a starting point.
I haven’t bought any textures.

I am done with the characters and almost done modelling the props.

I have just modelled this sack and these boxes which will be standing next to the newsstand. The display boxes will be hanging on the wall in the background.
