I had nothing to do with creating them, and had never even even thought of the idea before. What I like about them is the ability to watch an animation play and turn keys on and off to see the difference (or do it while stopped on a frame). I also like that I can deactivate keys without losing them forever like with deleting them. But I’m all for modifications that would let them work better for people, like making them so they don’t turn on when they’re not supposed to, or even having the option of not using them.

By the way, don’t let the poll results fool you. Sure there are a lot of votes for getting rid of inactive keys, but there’s no option to say “keep them, I like them.” For all we know, there might be a lot of votes for “keep them” or “keep them but improve them.”

Hi Fred - cool that you show up here :buttrock:

all fine and dandy what you are saying - it is just the sad truth that they every single time we here don´t need them they appear to get in the way…

Its for sure an interesting concept - it just doesn´t really work for most people as it seems - I don´t mean the voters, more everyone I talk about the issue… Sorry, but the current implementation surely causes more trouble than its worth…

Hi Fred,

You are quite right, there wasn’t the “I like them” option - the reason is that the forum has debated them on a few occassions and the overwhelming feeling is that they are unwanted in their CURRENT form. I am confident that if they never became active without user consent(!) then people would live happily with them and see them as a feature to use every now and then…or even grow to like them! In their current form, with the re-activation bugs, they are very very frustrating.

I’m not one to beg but I BEG you, please either remove them, have them optionally disabled or fix the associated bugs (listed below)

  1. Draging dopemaster cells re-activates inactive keys.
  2. Selecting an armature that has an associated inactive key at the current time, re-activates the inactive key, sending your armature flying off.

I don’t know how long it would take to sort it? Can you tell me?

Edit: If you like, I can doa straight poll on inactive keys, I think you would be very surprised by the results! Fancy a go?
