Some of them were rigged for posing but I froze them as transformed objects before I brought them to the final scene so it didn’t have to deal with bones slowing down the system.
100 Characters
Thats an impressive amount of characters! Lots of variety too. Nice way to present something as potetially boring as a modelling reel. It holds your intrest, and doesnt suffer from most modeling reel flaws like slow, boring wireframe spins.
I was thinking of doing some sort of reel where all my characters are together and interacting, but unlike yourself, most of my characters are all varying scales, meaning tiresome biped scaling and skin re-initialising!
Wow, Princess Leia is soo cool! :buttrock:
P.S: I’d really love to see a time lapse modeling video of you
Hey, Proton… amazing work you’ve made.
Many funny and appealing characters that would made me happy to have on my shelves.
Congratulations, and have 100 more soon.
Thanks for the link, great project!
Hehe, then realtime would be much better than a time lapse
Very nice, very cool characters, excellent job there.
And i like how its been presented.
This is sure inspirational.
I have a question about rights and usage of the models. I am making a beginning to intermediate character animation rigging tutorial DVD for ElectricImage users. It would be for sell, but it’s mostly a labor of love. The CA community using EIAS is small.
I was planning to use mesh of yours (comic guy) which I resculpted in Zbrush. Would their be any usage fees or copyright infringements? I was trying to save some time.
I thought if I resculpted the model enough, it would be a new work. I believe I accomplished the "remake", however, I may need to redo some of the topology, so I'm not sure if I'm going to use it. The mesh is great but I don't think it was created with the redesign in in mind.
Anyway, have enjoyed and studied your work for years now. Thanks.
[edit: Not tryingto jump the thread, just I couldn’t find a direct email for you. Thanks]
Inspirational work Proton - witty concept and the L:lightbulbwave renders are beautiful.
I will be attending your school “Proton” soon and I look forward to learning all you have to teach.
The models look great.
Wow… probably not going to say anything that hasn’t already been said, but that is a very impressive body of work. The variation in style is great, and it’s very inspiring, expecially with the showing of the wireframes. I’d recommend anyone who’s getting into character modeling or looking to improve their character modeling skills frame-by-frame through this reel.
Cheers to W§V, and kudos to Alejandro for laying it out. I’ll gladly add another five star rating - A well-earned front-page entry. Keep up the great work!
Awesome work man. That’s a reel you could watch over and over and still find new things.
