It is not simply a recompilation that is needed to get Clacos’s plug-ins to work again.
I have done several internal changes in Wings, much more major than I thought I would do before 1.0. But I thought it was better to change bad design decisions as soon as I had figured out how to fix them - even if it would make 1.0 later.
To get 1.0 out in my life-time, I have become restrictive of what I add to Wings. Mainly I fix things that are broken and while doing that I might incidentally add a new feature.
For instance, the old smooth proxy mode was a constant source of bugs. Knowing that I could not simply throw it out, I implemented the new proxy mode. The new proxy mode could still be improved, but the there has been few troublesome bugs compared to the old proxy mode.
About Clacos’s plug-ins, I plan to get that functionality into Wings in some form around 1.0. I will probably add some sort of Cut/Connect as an option to the Cut command (as suggested by ambient whisper). The slide tool I might possibly add into the Move command.
Alternatively, I (or Clacos) might simply do the necessary rewrites to make the plug-ins work again when Wings internals has stabilized around 1.0.
I don’t want to add Clacos’s plug-ins now, as I have enough of my own code to fix and maintain. It may seems that Wings is next to finished, but the last 10 percent (or last one percent) usually takes most of the time to get right. I foresee a lot work with user-interface (mostly dialogs), vertex colors/UV coordinates, and AutoUV. Those are features that I want to be as good as the modeling features.
…would be cool in wings now though…
