Film, Compositing, and Photoshop

Here's a good one for ya'll:

Anyone know of any examples of photoshop being used for compositing for a film before 1997?

rocketeer 1991...Its mentioned in the ILM book as the backgrounds being composited frame by frame in PS

seeing as PS had been out for years before 97 i'd say theres probably tons of films that used it somewhere along the line.

you, sir, are the man. which ILM book, please?
  10 October 2003
yes its the one i thought it was in my PM

more info

1989 ILM had the mac squad using PS to develop image processing.

PS was first extensivley used in anger on the Abyss '89. It was developed by John and Thomas Knoll at ILM before being published by adobe in '90. Oh and it was on done on a mac, something daft like a Mac II.

The Rocketeer had shots that had to be hand comped in PS due to their motion and background.

PS was also used on Hook and Memoirs of and invisible man, die hard 2 to help with the compostion of live action and painted backdrops of the airport.

If you can afford it the book is very much worth the money.
