Geometry Emission from a particle emitter

Does anyone knows how to create geometry using a particle emitter? This is a trick I used to do with Maya 1.0. I tried to do it with Maya 4.5 but the menus changed a bit and with the current menus I can not get it to work.

You need to use the instancer. Create at the origin the geometry that you want the particleshape to emit, then go to particles-> instancer. there are lots of options for all kinds of powerful stuff you can do with it but the gist is to select the particleshape you want to emit that instancer object and make sure that your geometry is in the list of objects in the instancer. voila, you should now be emitting geometry. That's obviously a danged quick run-over but if you need anything else, post specifics or check out some tutorials, now that you know what it is you need.
