Red face Lighting challenge...

hello everybody.
Are you read this book:
ESSENTIAL CG LIGHTING TECHNIQUES WITH 3DS MAX
in page 42,book shown one work of Mr Jason Kane.

how with fill lights render this image?
are am use Final Gathering?
or use Global Illumination or Radiosity or Advanced Indirect Illumination?
or Supper Sampling?
Please hellp me.

Better keep reading the book. You're not using your terms correctly. Also seems like he would mention how he does the lighting, no?

i make this below image wilth Final Gathering and MentalRay
but per image dot use this way!!?!

Use what gets you the results you want, without turning every feature on without a purpose.Your lighting looks fine, the difference is a style, not a feature.

ok.
my goal of create this image is practice in Lighting.
in the create Interior scene my use of DayLight system in 3d max and Exposure Setting.
but purpose of create other scene seem a Digital Painting!!?
since he used many Standard Spot Light for Fill Lights.
i can create this image which seem as Digital Painting.
please hellp me to create that scene.
what light i use ? standard or photometric?
spotLight or omni?
