Bird Rig WIP

I have been rigging this bird for a while now and i could really use some critiquing. I should say that i did not make the model. And if anyone would like the actual Maya file to try out please let me know.

Interesting. What is that lower chain of joints controlling on the wing? In the video, the controller says something like wing effect. Is that just controlling the feathers moving up and down in the wind?

I'll have to be rigging a bird soon for a job. Could you give me some advice on pitfalls in rigging a bird and methods you find best to get good movement from the rig?
