3D Character Artist/Animator wanted
World-class mobile application development company is seeking a 3D Character Animator to support our new social gaming franchise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Create low poly and high poly models using 3D application(s)
Create texture/shader (color, normal, specular, ambient occlusion, height, uv, and incandescent maps using 2D/3D application(s)
Work with in-house art tools to provide content to game engine.
Work with Art Direction
Collaborate with other departments (management, production, programming) to ensure art is implemented appropriately in the game engine
Experiment with and/or evaluate techniques and/or art programs to improve efficiency, workflow, or pipeline contribution to game art/engine
Other duties may be assigned
Have a solid and demonstrable proficiency working in PhotoShop, Maya, and also additional knowledge in 3DS Studio Max
Possess good artistic skills and a working knowledge of 2D/3D art production.
Be able to animate creatures/animals as well as bipeds.
Worked on at least one title that shipped.
Shows initiative and strong ability at problem solving rigging and animation issues.
Troubleshoot technical problems while working with other disciplines to ensure quality and efficiency of all assets.
Create compelling animation for in-game characters and real-time cinematic scenes.
Possess ability to animate environments and combat
Work independently and conscientiously with minimal supervision along with the ability to assume leadership responsibility as needed
Have excellent understanding of classic animation principles and fundamentals (weight, staging, timing, movement, anticipation, exaggeration, follow through, etc.).
Recommendations (highly desired):
Strong foundation skills with the ability to work with detailed concept art, or reference art/ materials
Strong traditional painting skills in both stylized and photorealistic styles
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines
Strong interest in computer or video games
Experience with multiple game engines
We have two positions open - one full time, one part time/internship. Candidates should be available to work from our West L.A. offices, no relocation assistance will be provided.
