BVH in 3ds Max 2011


I was trying to use a pre made .bvh with a pre made .max file in 3ds Max 2011 but I cant seem to find a way to do so. I know if I go to Motion->Motion Capture->Load Motion capture file, I can use the .bvh file but, Motion Capture is not there when I select the character in the pre made .max file. I tried opening a new file and creating a biped, and then went to the motion tab and was able to locate motion capture and successfully load the .bvh file. I just cant do it with the character in the pre made .max file. Any ideas?
