Some advise on purchasing M:Studio
Hello, I would like to know what kind materials are available both with the package and 3rd party, that could get new people like me up and running with Messiah. Im a LW user who is considering purchasing Messiah:Studio 4.
As the web site was not very clear about it, does the software include manuals? Hard copies or only e-versions? Updated for version 4 or old manual with addedum?
Also, aside from Joe Cosman's tutorials, are there other 3rd party materials out there? How about tutorials, web sites, etc?
Any information would be great.
Thanks in advance.

you mean messiah:animate 4, or messiah:studio 1.5, there is not a messiah:studio 4, not yet.
the manuals are in html format with a lot of video and animated gif, imo there is not a better way to learn.
they are updated, printable pdf manuals will probably follow soon.
there are the old but good video tuitorials from john riggs (www.characterfx.com) but he seems to vanish sometimes.
this is one of this times.
i wish he would be more present.
this post on the yahoo forum could be interesting for you:

There's also Joe Cosman's training tapes/dvd's that I hear are quite nice. You should check out the thread near the top about them, titled: "Learn Messiah instructional videos ". Like Geco mentioned there the John Riggs video's, which are a great learning tool. And there are the manuals. I would also like to mention that manuals are a great learning tool, mainly due to the fact that they not only tell you what everythig does, but you also get basic working examples as well as animated gif's and video tutorials (showing the process) embeded right in the docs, right along with what is being explained.
There is also the online community here and at yahoogroups. Yahoogroups has a files section, there are plenty of examples stored there from other users. Also you can post problem scenes to the files section, from there anyone can look at your issues and help. Both of the communities (yahoo and here) have many active members that frequent the boards, all willing to help one another out. Actually one of messiah's greatest assetts is that Lyle (one of the programmers) and Fred (messiah manual guru, uber support type guy) post and visit the lists on a daily basis. So you actually have access to the programmers ears if you have any issues.
