Unhappy Weird edge selection problem. Please help!

Hi guys, I'm currently facing a problem with my edge selection. I select an edge, and these yellow squares appear at each end of the edge. The problem comes when i start to move the edge, it somehow flips the vertices instead of moving the edge. I really need your help A.S.A.P. please!!

I have attached screenshots of it.

This is how my edge looks like when i select an edge in edge mode.

This is what happens when i try to move that edge. It only flips the two vertices on that edge. Doesn't move the edge. Please help me quick! :(

It looks more like Reflection option along X enabled.
Double clicking the Move tool will get you to the options. Or hold w and click to change Reflection through the marking menu
