Fly!!! Short animation

Hi everybody...

This is a short film made for the "2009 Mediaworks / Maxon challenge".
The theme was more or less "something has to fly in your image/animation"...
I made it in 3 weeks, and a few nights ;-)
A work in progress can be seen here:

Software used: Cinema4D / Photoshop / AfterEffect

Hope you like it...
Crits & comments most welcome... ;-)

You work fast and the final product is wonderful. Even if it's just a wood muppet, wow, super good characteristics. This was great to watch.

Thx a lot! :-)

Here's some parts of the wip, particularly the first room, built with projection cam...

Building of a 360 with Stitcher:

Cubical export:

Creation of a cube with the 6 faces mapped in a luminance channel

A camera at the exact center, animated only in rotation (no translation)

Same cube but with a camera moving: it doesn't work!

Instead of just mapping the 6 faces, let's try project the textures with camera mapping.
Let's create 6 cameras, with a rotation of 90 and a field of view of 90:

Let's model the scene with very low poly objects.

Let's try a rapid test with an animated camera:

Real test inside:

The room is ready. Some improvments can be done of course, but the system works fine...
Big advantage of this technique: render times are more or less 1min30 for a 300 frames animation at 1280x720 px... Hard to make smaller ;-)
