Save 50% on Master Bundle

Side Effects Software, an industry leader in 3D animation and visual effects software, is pleased to announce savings of 50% for the Houdini Master bundle. Studios looking for a new level of flexibility and control can now save money while enjoying the benefits of Houdiniís node-based workflow.

The bundle includes Houdini Master and the Annual Upgrade Plan which provides production-level technical support and access to all major, minor and daily builds of Houdini. Whether you are configuring Houdini, troubleshooting a production issue, or prototyping an effect for a new project, you can rely on the Annual Upgrade Plan to provide you with first class support.

Still waaaay out of my price range, but a great deal for some I'm sure!

Now if you would only slash the price of the starving artist version, that I could afford.

Woho, Apprentice is FREE, on almost all platforms you could name! Which is very very good value from whatever angle you look at it. Starving Artist version is just 100$ which is also very very good value. Modelling, rendering, dynamics, fire, fluids, rigging, scripting, compositing, animating. I can't even imagine a better deal that this. What more could they do?

Make one of the versions usable for commercial work?

Thumbs up

holieeee shieeeet !!!

Guys look at it this way...

a.Support is approx $3000
b.Support price is non negotiable (from experience)
c.Support is solid and worth it (from experience)

This brings the min entry point to approx $2500 for the software.
So what does this snowball to ???
A. Smaller shops can bite the Houdini pie
B. Other shops can scale up.
B. R10K and fuzzylizard don't need to spend a dime & instead learn from free apprentice.
C. Approach A || B

I understand how it all works... I was commenting on what Mic_Ma asked. That said, sometimes freelancers just want to buy a bit of software and use it for the odd job here and there, as opposed to learning with a PLE/non-commercial version so they can be hired by someone with enough cash to purchase a commercial license.

the terms for the HD version are very good - you can use it for just about anything.
commercial work is commercial work - if you get paid so should the software developer, though I understand the desire to use an application in some limited form...

IIRC Side Effects has/will offer Houdini on a per project basis...
try info@sidefx.com or sales@sidefx.com

Yes indeed, not all of us earn megabucks with every program we use.

Side Effects offer a monthly rental option although I think it is still a bit expensive for freelancers.
