Yep, this was well talked about when it came out. It's real, with a little editing to join two parts filmed seperately together because the room was too small for the whole thing.

It took 600 takes to get right as well from memory

The tires going uphill bug me, it just doesn't look right.

If you read the links below there are some explanations about that.

The tires rolling uphilll doesn't bother me, the fact that they don't roll back down does. Plus the "rollling" muffler is completely wrong. No way you'd get a muffler to roll like that on it's own.

The pieces mighta all been real but the laws of physics sure weren't in effect. Some of those segments obviously had help.

Well, help in terms of physics. Weighting can make the wheels go up the hill and add extra momentum for muffler etc. etc. It's all up to the people creating that stuff to decide what they will do.

I'm pretty confident that I read that the rolling muffler was CG and was used to link the two sections of footage together. The whole sequence was too long for one single commercial so they had to split it up.

They put nuts and bolts in the tyres (and presumably the muffler - I understood it was only a little bit of the muffler that was CG to join the two shots) to make them roll up hill.

If I understood right, it wasn't too long for one commercial but rather the room was too small.

The muffler in no possible way could have the momentum to make that last roll

it was all real, the tires where weighted to get them to roll up hill, I guess the muffler was too.

also nobody has mentioned the glass in the window going through the plank of wood (go have a look again!)

that bit make me think it was CG but there's a slot in the wood, very clever!
