Animating a Fight Scene:: Approach?

How would the more experienced MB users approach this. Would they...

A) Animate 2 characters exchaging some blows in 1 take. Then splice the takes together with Mblend.

B) Animate each character seperately in its own taken, Then Merge 2 characters takes -> 1 take, then finally splicing those takes together.

What are the advantages / disadvantages of each approach.

Any other tips for working with more than 1 character are appreciated, thanks.

Oh one more thing that is bugging me, when i use a joint (right foot) as a stabilation point in Mblend how do i determine which cut gets moved, when i do Match Pivot. I can only seem to affect one (not usually the one i want moved =])
