This might sound a little stupid but...

I can't find the mentalraylog file that The verbosity seemingly is written to when checked through batch render.

Can anyone point me in the right direction??

It should end up in: My Documents/maya/mayaRenderLog.txt

I had this same problem this morning. Been awhile since I've optimized my renders.

I don't think its stupid, there are a lot of things to remember using these programs.
