Dinner Shot

I discovered the works of Jacek Yerka trough this contest. In "Dinner shot" I tried to approach his methods of spatial representation, his humor, coexistence, his paradoxes and his specific intimacy.

and is great but has no definition it seems to me like a collage of everithing that passed over your head but has no meaning of waht it is , as you see of yerka it manages a theme that has relationship with the piece i think is good color and painted but it seems to me too much desorder with no meaning of end thinking, i can see that you go for one way and suddenly it interrupts with no correlation , but i like it it would have more definition of what is going to go the piece it would be very very good but is just my thinking

good luck

You're right, maybe it seems to you. Sorry no pun intended, but I see a lot of connection, I like the way the elements correlate to the "dinner" theme. I see a living kitchen that gathers resources from the nature and consumes them. Like a closed circuit.

At the same time, everything (at least it seems to me) tries to explain the human existence - people that dress nicely (the evening dress in the right bottom) and then start to consume. I also like how the human is transforming the nature according to his image (the root and waterfall woman).
Then he invented steam devices to accelerate the process. And finally I see how he uses photographic machines to record the feast of degeneration. I mean he is proud of his own work, he wants to be remembered for his achievements.

The thing is that we normally wouldn't see all these in an objective light if it wasn't for the cold eye of the camera, so I guess that's why it's in the center - it captured this whole image.

Nice work, thumbs up!

p.s. smiljan66, these surreal images are meant to mess up your conventional thinking and stir up your imagination, let them play!

Very nice–contemporary surrealism with a hint of Dali.
The colors are well orchestrated, as evidenced in the thumbnail.

Thumbs up

I was thinking more that there was more of a hint of Hieronymus Bosch and maybe a bit of a mix of a still life of Pieter Aertsen. I like this piece a lot. I would like to know what you all eat and drink in Romania. I also like how you added the fish bird. Good Luck!

smiljan66, skocu, LefTerris, Quadart, tiello, LaurentiuBontea thank you for your support.

tiello, we like only "surreal" drinks and foods, from Coca-Cola with Pepsi taste, to steroids with french fries flavour. I prefer gingerbread with milk.

smiljan66, the painting it’s 100% made in Photoshop and is called "Dinner Shot". That’s an important clue!
The works of Jacek Yerka have a different kind of depth that is not subject to academic standards. He uses gradients just like the cubists (and not only) and although the represented objects are lit, there is often a lack of worn shadows or reflections. As a "surrealist" Jacek Yerka tends to exceed the rules of linear perspective, which as a system can be the expression of conceptual thought.

LaurentiuBontea, I will post some details as soon as I can.

I don’t think that the purpose of this contest is to create a compilation, a fake or an imitation. It would be useless and devoid of common sense. An artwork makes sense and it is appreciated if it is the expression of honesty, that is when the artist expresses himself without resorting to tips & tricks. The act of trying to express another one’s thoughts is absurd. One can only express what he/she perceives to be happening in the mind of another.
I think that our mission, those of us who participate in this contest is to go hunting with Jacek Yerka’s weapons, but to hunt what we like and what we can.

Very nice entrie. I think you have really well understand the subject, you have a good composition and Yerka style is really here. It's look for me as if you have choose to do both landscape and interior from Yerka in the same picture, which is a good thing. The Egg looks like a wink to Magritte, and this is part of Yerka life, I like your choice.

I like the opposition you made with the two parts (metallic, stone / vegetation), this is a way I would have take for this contest, lots of Yacek painting speak about opposition.

Well, lot of details, well executed, all in the subject...don't be too surprised if you are in the winners!

Mucus, You are a real wizard! You left me with my mouth open and you've stolen my words. Yes, this is about, coexistence, complementarity, opozition.
