Fiat500 by DIESEL, Phil Shoebottom (3D)
![]() Title: Fiat500 by DIESEL Name: Phil Shoebottom Country: United Kingdom Software: 3ds max, After Effects, Photoshop, VRay This is an image for a web campaign for AKQA and Fiat, for the Fiat500 by DIESEL. The idea was to try and match the press imagery as close as possible but to have it in 3D to allow the use of a configurator. The car was supplied CAD data but the environment was modelled based on a photo. Environment was modelled in Max and textured in Photoshop (not by me!). All shaders, lighting and rendering done in Vray. You can view the configurator here http://www.fiat.co.uk/500bydiesel/ Cheers. __________________

Hey man this really is a nice render my only critique is the reflections in the car paint seems a little too high but maybe it's just me. Lookin good.

Awesome render. Only thing I notice is that the reflection on the car doesn't seem to match the environment.

Looks cool, you've brought out the shapes in the car nicely. Alloys are nice and bright and windows look nice and wet.
I guess crits wise I wouldnt of had a blurry reflection for water, looks odd. The windows look more wet than the water. I would try a quick test without blurry reflections and see how it looked. Also the DOF is maybe a bit much for that camera and kind of making the car look small. I would also warm up the highlights in the car to help sit it in the scene, they are very white, studio almost but the car enviroment has a lot of colour in it. Only niggles tho, great job ! ![]() __________________

Thanks everyone!
It was actually a pretty hard brief as the original photo that we had to match was in itself a photo comp of two different photos shot with different lenses and cameras, and different lighting. Not knowing any of the lighting or camera settings, and only having the one view to go from was quite difficult in being able to achieve a good match to the supplied image. That's also why the car doesn't quite fit the environment and why the highlights are off ![]() Cheers ![]() __________________
