Dandelion seeds leaving flower

Hi! I want to animate dandelion seeds leaving a dandelion clock, caused by a wind breeze. The problem I have is, that I actually need 2 pivots for that animation. One for the rotation at the lower part (fruit) of the seed when it's fixed to the seedhead and the wind tries to grasp the seed. The other pivot should be placed at the pappus, when the seeds leave the flower and rotate and tumble around that point.

Is it possible to shift the pivot point via scripting, when the seeds enter a new event? Or is there another way? Maybe using max2008 working pivot point? I have no idea about scripting

thanks in advance

You could try creating two shapes, with different pivots, when the particle enters a new event assign the second shape to it. Don't know if it will work how you want it though

Anselm (psychosilence) did something similar withfeathers here

You could easily pull it of with the lock/bond op (box#1)

Hi Johnny! Thanks for your answer, but I don't own PflowBox#1, only #3.

You could do something like this with box#3...Align particles to object normals and test true by age with random variation.

Maxfile:
Max 9 PFtools Box#3 1.07

You possibilities are nearly endless with box#3.

here´s my final result...http://3delicious.de/flash/gallery/...andy-flower.jpg

was a pre production/rnd situation but would definitely work. i just never finished it and handed the setup off to the client...

cant share the file therefore but i guess a lil screener is okay to peak in. client didnt have box3 so no magic happening here but john´s setup is cooler anyways, don´t listen to ol´ grumpy ansi!

Nice shot Anselm, I did something similar a while ago but instead of an age test I used a colision test and an animated deflector to release the seeds as an actrees blows. It was not a real dandelion because it was made of small cars that can't be seen in the video... but anyway, it was the first shot of this movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyCILgRomN4
