how is this possible

The following file (psd) was originaly rendered in maya in 32bit and then comped in nuke. The strange stuff you see in it is only visible in 32bits as soon as you convert it to 16 it's gone. Just turn off-on the layers to see what is it about. Only thing I know is it came from maya. But what is it?
