About Dynamic Painting

Dynamic Painting is a form of digital generative art that is truly the original creation of the artist - a new kind of art -created by human, and developed endlessly by a computer. It is based on an original idea described in a precise mathematical way that governs the shape, color and dimension of the generated image, converting brush strokes into algorithms. The algorithms of a dynamic painting represent the DNA of the picture, mutating to generate a series of distinct images that follow the style and concept of the original painting. This novel technology is ideal in many decorative applications for home, office, or public space. A typical Dynamic Painting installation includes proprietary hardware connected to a large high definition LCD/Plasma monitor. The system and display can be tailored to a particular specification; to fit any environment. The benefits of this genre are obvious: an endless supply of unprecedented and unpredictable paintings in the place of one static image.

Looks pretty impressive. I could go some abstract art that always changes on my wall, that would be sweet. Is this something similar to 'Electronic Sheep'?

Not at all. You probably mean 'Electric Sheep'. Electric sheep a fractale generator. Dynamic painting is not a fractal generator. Artist can use some elements of fractals but also he can create the painting without fractals (in other words without recursive iterations).

From www.SanBase.com website:

An artist begins creation of a Dynamic Painting by conceiving an idea for the painting, selecting basic colors, shapes and principles of their development over time. Unlike a conventional painter, the artist has to think in one more dimension to properly design the evolution of images as the painting would develop. Using a wide array of techniques that have deep roots in the styles of conventional paintings, an artist converts the brush strokes into algorithms that can precisely convey his original design of a digital painting. Once the Dynamic Painting has been designed and programmed, it is up to a powerful computer system to bring it to life. In a computer, each painting starts its life with an original idea described in a precise mathematical way that governs the shape, color as well as many other parameters of the generated image. This algorithm represents the "DNA" of the picture. Just like the DNA of a living organism, with a slight mutation, the image algorithm can produce an infinite number of unique paintings. A carefully devised "mutation" algorithm uses a computer to generate a series of distinct images that follow the style and concept of the original painting. This "mutation" process can be slowly animated over time to produce a fluid motion within the element of a painting; producing a magnificent never-ending and never repeating show.
