Rigging a horse leg

This is how long I have come with rigg for my horse leg. Now I dont know hot to link this ik right, if I only link tham to Spline Control than I can move and rotate but I cant rotate in y axel, like rotate to the left or right.

It's hard to tell by just looking at a picture. I would think you would want to setup up the foot similar to the way you would a human foot, without the ball. You need a heirarchy system consisting of ankle, heel, and toe...
